The Society announced its updated Clinical Practice Guideline on Management of Hyperglycemia in Hospitalized Patients in Non-Critical Care Settings during Sunday’s diabetes news conference. The guideline emphasizes the use of emerging diabetes technology and insulin therapy for glycemic management and inpatient diabetes self-management education.

The Endocrine Society and European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) presented its inaugural joint Transatlantic Alliance Award to Shlomo Melmed, MB, ChB, at ENDO 2022 on June 11. Melmed also was a featured speaker at ENDO 2022, presenting his talking on “Growth Hormone: An Adult Endocrine Misnomer” at the Presidential Plenary on Health Equity in Endocrinology.

As the Annual Meeting Steering Committee gathered to plan this year’s meeting, we were acutely aware that this is the return of a live meeting after two years at home, and our goal was to make it as interactive as possible. We’ve made sure to include social activities throughout the conference, as the majority of attendees and speakers are joining us in-person this year. The All-Attendee Social taking place on Sunday is a great way for everyone to catch up over happy hour with colleagues you haven’t seen in a while, and I highly encourage you to make time to attend.

New Scientific Statement on Extracellular Vesicles Will Be Highlighted at ENDO 2022

ENDO 2022 will present a session on a new Scientific Statement that covers the endocrine roles of extracellular vesicles. The statement describes the importance of extracellular vesicles as a new research target for understanding the causes of certain endocrine disorders such as cancer and diabetes and discovering new treatments for these disorders.

Gary Hammer, MD, PhD, Millie Schembechler Professor of Adrenal Cancer at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., won the Endocrine Society's Endocrine Images Art Competition, a contest celebrating the beauty of endocrine science. Entries were judged based on aesthetic value and significance to endocrine research.

Clinical Pearls: Q&A with William F. Young, Jr., MD, Editor-in-Chief of JCEM Case Reports

In March, the Endocrine Society announced that it will launch a new open-access, online-only journal called JCEM Case Reports that will feature reports on clinical cases and detail how to approach and solve complex clinical problems in endocrinology. JCEM Case Reports will be fully peer-reviewed and begin publishing issues in late 2022.
