ENDO 2022 Health & Safety Policy

Do I have to be vaccinated to attend the event in-person?

Yes. At this time, the Endocrine Society is requiring that all in-person attendees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Fully vaccinated attendees will be required to wear properly positioned masks when in Society designated indoor areas as this is the most effective protection against COVID-19 and its variant strains. Our mandatory vaccination policy and mask requirement is intended to provide the highest level of safety measures for all who attend and participate in-person at the Annual Meeting. For more information on the most up-to-date measures being taken to ensure the safety of all in-person participants, please see our Safety Policy and Protocols page.

Will the Annual Meeting move to a fully virtual experience if the COVID-19 situation worsens?

We at The Society take the monitoring and assessment of the COVID-19 situation very seriously and pride ourselves on keeping attendees of the Annual Meeting as safe as possible. Since we are requiring that all attendees be fully vaccinated and masked properly while in Society designated indoor areas, we do not foresee the need to move to a fully virtual program this year. However, we will always follow the requirements of local, state, or federal mandates or the event venue. Should we find it necessary to pivot to an all-virtual experience before or during the course of the Annual Meeting, all registered in-person participants will be notified immediately.

These sessions are being livestreamed, so they are available in real time to our virtual audience. In addition, our in-person and livestreamed sessions will be recorded, so you can access them on demand after 72 hours. I’m not a physician but my accrediting body accepts AMA PRA Category 1 credit. Why am I only receiving Participation credit?

The Endocrine Society is accredited specifically to provide CME credit in the form of AMA PRA Category 1 credit. Per the American Medical Association, “AMA PRA credit may only be claimed by, and awarded to, physicians, defined by the AMA as individuals who have completed an allopathic (MD), osteopathic (DO) or an equivalent medical degree from another country.” While we acknowledge that accrediting bodies accept AMA PRA Category 1 credit, the Society cannot award this credit type to other healthcare professionals as the accreditation we hold is specifically for physician CME.

In the hopes of finding an alternative approach, we created the participation credit several years ago, which notes AMA PRA eligibility on its certificate for the learner to submit to their profession’s accrediting body. This approach has been confirmed as acceptable by other CME accrediting bodies. All individuals interested in claiming credit to be submitted as CME to their accrediting body should claim Participation credit.
